Your business WILL NOT grows without consistent advertising and promotion. This does not mean you should break the bank to advertise and I don’t mean, belly-to-belly sales, pestering your friends and family. We market by leveraging the Internet and you MUST take some form of decisive action toward marketing your business DILIGENTLY!
Consistent action is the key to being a successful marketer in any business. A common mistake that marketers make is that they try a few things, and then wait and see what they get. They will buy a few leads place a few ads, do a couple of things online, and then sit back and expect the world to fall into their lap.
Let me be perfectly clear with you right now before you spend a penny on marketing. When it comes to marketing, if you have an entitlement mentality and thinking this will happen on its own, you are DEAD MEAT.
Think about it in these terms:
If marketing were easy, everyone and every business would be successful. Marketing is hard work. Marketing is the KINGPIN of every successful business. I don’t care if you are a Hair Salon, Mortgage Broker, Trucking Company or a Restaurant, if nobody knows you’re open for business you will fight for every last dime you earn.
Dominos certainly doesn’t make the best pizza, so why do they sell more pizza than others? The answer is MARKETING!
Marketing is your way to get in front of your target audience and make your case as to why you are exactly what your customer is looking for.
Marketing is going to be the most difficult yet rewarding thing when getting your business off the ground. The feeling of accomplishment that comes from setting up a successful campaign and making 10:1 on your money is incredible. Once you crack the code you will be rewarded with endless business and more free time then you know what to do with. The only question is this, “Are you willing to do what it takes or are you going to be one of those who makes a stab at it and then sits back and waits…?”
Your business needs three things from you – time, focus, and resources. Make sure that you are spending the best of each of these. Make sure you have some sort of support there to help you explore all of your options and resources. Once this is done, develop a business plan that is most suitable for you and in keeping with the kind of business that you want to build.
Regardless of your marketing budget, you should spend time every day building your online presence and expanding your reach with web 2.0 low/zero cost options.
Some Basic Do’s and Don’ts
- NEVER spend more than 50% of your budget on one marketing solution.
- DO NOT spend more than your commission on your marketing effort for your first sale.
- Use a mix of the low-cost and zero-cost solutions to average down your cost if you come close to your budget.
- There is a cost to convenience. Turnkey solutions will always cost you more per lead/sale. Use at your discretion and based on your personal situation.
- Don’t overlook break even marketing strategies if your comp plan pays a considerable residual this could be a golden goose, if handled properly.
1st Month: Understanding the business, setting your goals, formulating your strategy, and testing the water. Generating your first leads and beginning to fill your pipeline. Yes it is completely possible to come charging out of the gate; we have countless members who have had phenomenal results in their first month, it is entirely up to you.
2nd Month: The biggest mistake a lot of new entrepreneurs is they never fund their marketing strong enough to build enough momentum. Remember to put the profits from your first 2-5 sales back into your marketing. Your goal should also be to become self sufficient in lead generation by your second month with at least 100-200 (minimum) leads per week.
3rd, 4th, and 5th Month: You should have reached momentum phase by now and be generating at least 200-300 leads per week - Obviously all of this depends on your ability to become a master marketer and generate leads. Continue to purchase the leads to supplement your lead generation until you reach that 200-300 per week benchmark.
6th Month and Beyond: If you have been consistently building momentum with 200-300 leads per week and filling your pipeline with quality prospects. You should be able to Kiss your Job Goodbye and spend more time doing what you really want to be doing.
